Chinese Participants of WePlay AniMajor Finally Returned Home

WePlay Esports, the organizer of the recent Dota 2 event AniMajor, have announced that all Chinese teams are finally back home. The teams – PSG.LGD, Vici Gaming, Team Aster and Invictus Gaming – have been unable to leave Kyiv for three weeks, staying in their hotel.

Chinese teams experienced issues with flights both to and from Ukraine. Before the major, the teams were unable to leave their country due to problems with return tickets. Then WePlay managed to book a private round flight, which successfully brought the teams to Ukraine. Later however the Chinese government introduced new restrictions, which made it impossible to get to the country in a private jet.

The teams considered staying in Ukraine and flying to Sweden directly from there. First, however, they experienced issues with making visas while outside of their country. Then it was confirmed that The International 10 was postponed to a later date, which made staying in Ukraine unreasonable. Luckily, WePlay were able to get the teams tickets to a regular flight.

WePlay AniMajor was the second and final major of the year. It took place as an offline event without live audience on June 2nd – 13th in the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv. In the tournament’s grand finals PSG.LGD defeated Evil Geniuses and claimed $200,000 in prize money.
