Copenhagen Flames to Keep their Roster Unchanged for 2022

The Danish organization Copenhagen Flames has officially announced that their CS:GO roster will remain the same for the upcoming season. After their unexpectedly successful run at the Stockholm major, the organization’s management and the players considered different options but decided it was better to keep the roster.

Last month the team surprised everyone by their strong performance at PGL Major Stockholm Major 2021, where they finished the New Challengers Stage with a 3-0 score after defeating Astralis, BIG, and Heroic. Later in the New Legends Stage they defeated EG and FaZe, but lost to G2, Heroic and NiP, thus failing to advance to the playoffs.

For a team mostly consisting of young and inexperienced players, such results were very impressive. The team’s head of esports Daniel Vorborg revealed that following their run at the major, several parties started negotiations with them. However, ultimately they decided that it was best to continue playing together in Copenhagen Flames. As the team’s captain Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen explained: “We might not get the big bucks and the league spots, but we get a feeling of security and room to develop that no other big organization can provide”.

Earlier in late November the team parted ways with their coach Faruk "pita" Pita, who transferred to Dignitas. The team will start the next season by competing in ESL Challenger League in January, however in February they will travel to Poland to partake in IEM XVI – Katowice, where they will start in the Play-In stage thanks to their position in the ESL World Ranking.
