Evil Geniuses: Tarik Steps Down from Active Roster, Replaced by MICHU

Evil Geniuses have announced that Tarik "tarik" Celik is no longer part of their active CS:GO roster. The player revealed that he “benched himself” due to the team’s poor results. His place has been taken by a Polish player Michał "MICHU" Müller.

24-years-old MICHU, who has been competing since 2013, is mostly known for his 2-years tenure with Virtus.pro (2018 – 2020). Last year he played for Team Envy, with them he participated in two FLASHPOINT seasons without much success. Since January he has been playing for a Polish mix Styldynow alongside his former VP teammate Paweł "byali" Bieliński.

Tarik has been part of the team since 2019 – during this time the team’s biggest achievements were the first places at StarSeries i-League Season 8, BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 American Finals and ESL One New York 2019. Recently the team has been underperforming, most notably placing last at ESL Pro League Season 13.

In his blog post Tarik explained that he decided to bench himself due to lackluster results – the player explained that his teammates did not share his views on the ways to solve their internal problems. Ultimately the player lost hope in the project and decided to leave. For now he will try to get back in form and in the meantime will resume streaming.

Evil Geniuses are currently on their bootcamp in Europe. The updated roster will debut at the upcoming online event Funspark ULTI 2020, which is scheduled for April 19th – 27th and will feature eight teams competing for a $250,000 prize pool. In their first match the team will face Heroic (Apr 20, 4:30 PM UK time).
