Groups for DreamHack Open January 2021 Revealed

The organizers of the upcoming $70,000 tournament DreamHack Open January 2021 have revealed the groups for the event’s European division. The eight participating teams have been seeded into two groups as follows:

• Group A: BIG, HellRaisers, FPX Esports, Evil Geniuses
• Group B: Gambit Esports, Sprout, Team Spirit, forZe

The event’s group stage will be played between January 27th – 29th following a GSL format. In Group A’s first matches BIG will face HellRaisers, while FPX will take on EG. The first series of Group B are Gambit vs Sprout and Spirit vs forZe. The best two teams from each group will advance to a single-elimination playoffs bracket, which will be played from January 30th to 31st.

The event will also feature an American division, where four teams – Rebirth Esports, Triumph, Extra Salt and paiN Gaming – will compete for a $30,000 prize pool. The teams will play in a double-elimination bracket; in the first series Triump will face paiN, while Rebirt will take on Extra Salt.
