Mind Games Disqualified from ESL One Stockholm Major
ESL have announced that one of the participating teams of ESL One Stockholm – Mind Games – has been disqualified from the major. The organizers have explained the decision by “continuing VISA issues” – earlier the team already had filled two stand-ins.
Mind Games qualified for the major by placing third in the Eastern European Dota Pro Circuit. The team’s initial roster included two Ukrainian players – Danil "Bignum" Shekhovtsov and Semion "CemaTheSlayer" Krivulya, who could not travel to Sweden due to travel restrictions. The team wanted to replace them by two PuckChamp players – Henadzi "Astral" Motuz from Belarus and Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin from Russia. However, reportedly three members of the team were unable to get to Stockholm in time.
The team was supposed to compete in Group B alongside Gaimin Gladiators, Fnatic, Spirit, Thunder, TSM and Liquid. Due to their disqualification all other members of the group will receive automatic wins, with all of them advancing to the playoffs – top four to the upper bracket and the others to the lower bracket.
ESL One Stockholm 2022 takes place from May 12th to 22nd in Stockholm, Sweden at Hovet Arena. The prize pool of the event is set at $500,000.
