Blizzard have revealed that the 2021 season of Overwatch League will include three LAN-events – all of them will be held in China during the summer months.
The events will include the teams that were allocated to the league’s East division. The teams based in China, among which are Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Hangzhou Spark, Los Angeles Valiant, and Shanghai Dragons, are expected to compete onstage. Meanwhile the teams based in South Korea – New York Excelsior, Philadelphia Fusion, and Seoul Dynasty – will participate in the events remotely.
The list of the events looks as follows:
- June 4-6: June Joust hosted by Hangzhou Spark
- July 9-11: Summer Showdown hosted by Shanghai Dragons
- August 7-8: Countdown Cup hosted by Guangzhou Charge
It is expected that the events will have a reduced amount of visitors in accordance to the local safety requirements, which can be changed. More detailed information on the events will be revealed later by the host teams.
Earlier Blizzard revealed that this season Overwatch League will be played online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The league was split into two divisions – East and West. The Regular Play is scheduled to start on April 16th, while the Playoffs will be played in September.
