VCS are Confirmed to Miss Worlds 2021, Rogue Qualify for Group Stage
It has been officially confirmed that the Vietnamese league VCS will not be represented at 2021 World Championship. For this reason Rogue, who placed third in LEC Summer 2021 and were supposed to start the event in the Play-In stage, have automatically qualified for the Group Stage.
This is a third time when Vietnam Champion Series members do not attend international events – earlier the region was also not represented at Mid-Season Invitational 2021 in Reykjavík, Iceland, as well as at Worlds 2020 in Shanghai, China. Besides that, the league’s Summer Split was cancelled due to issues between local distributor Garena and RIOT Games amidst tough epidemiological situation in the region due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
GAM Esports’s jungle player Đỗ "Levi" Duy Khánh expressed his disappointment with the situation on Twitter:
Practice 10+ hours a day for almost everyday the whole summer until we know that we can't make it to Worlds and then our split ended just like that, 3.5 months of practicing , 0 competitive game.

Despite the cancellation of the region’s Summer Split, his team was supposed to participate in the Worlds due to their victory in the Spring Split.
Earlier RIOT Games confirmed that 2021 World Championship will be held in Iceland from October 5th to November 6th. The list of participants looks as follows:
- Group Stage Teams: Edward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Royal Never Give Up, DAMWON Gaming, Gen.G, T1, MAD Lions, Fnatic, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, PSG Talon, Rogue
- Play-In Teams: Beyond Gaming, Cloud9, DetonatioN FocusMe, Galatasaray Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, Infinity, LNG Esports, PEACE, RED Canids, Unicorns of Love
