Virtus.pro to Try out New Carry and Semi-Support Players
Virtus.pro have announced that they are considering possible changes to their Dota 2 roster. The organization plans to use the break between the seasons to try out new players for the carry and semi-support roles. Currently these positions belong to Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko and Vitalie "Save-" Melnic.
The official statement reads that the team’s management gathered all members of the team, discussing their results and plans for the future with each of them individually. This way they found out that some players have contradicting ideas considering the gameplay as well as some problems outside of the game. The management believes that these issues can prevent the team from achieving greater results in the next season. There is still a chance however that the team will continue playing without any roster changes.
Both Nightfall and Save- have been playing for the team since April 2020, when it was still competing under the VP.Prodigy name. Following their promotion to the main roster, this year the team managed to win both seasons of Dota Pro Circuit in the CIS region. The team’s results at the majors were, however, rather lackluster – they placed 7-8th at ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021 and 9 – 12th at WePlay AniMajor.
The team was invited to The International 10 thanks to their third place in the DPC rankings. There they managed to place 2nd in Group A with a 5-1-2 score and made it to the upper bracket. In the playoffs they outplayed Vici Gaming (2-1), but later lost to PSG.LGD (0-2) and Team Spirit (1-2). Thus, the team finished 5th – 6th at the event, repeating their results in 2015, 2017 and 2018. This performance granted them $1,400,600 in prize money, the biggest prize in the team’s history.
