Worlds 2021: the Seedings Results

RIOT Games have conducted the seeding process for the upcoming World Championship 2021, drawing the groups for both the Play-In Stage and the Main Stage. The process has been translated online.

The Play-In will be held on October 5th – 9th and be split into two rounds. During the first one, ten teams will compete in two groups with a single round robin format and best-of-one matches. The groups will look as follows:

  • Group A: Hanwha Life, LNG, Infinity, PEACE, RED Canids
  • Group B: Beyond, Cloud9, Unicors of Love, Galatasaray, DetonatioN FocusMe

While the top teams of each group will advance directly to the main event, the teams placed 2nd and 3rd – 4th will compete for the last two places in the main event in the second round. It will feature a single-elimination bracket with best-of-five series, with teams placed 2nd starting in the finals.

The Group Stage of the Main Event is scheduled for October 11th – 13th, 15th – 18th. There sixteen teams will compete in four double round robin format with best-of-one series. The teams have been seeded as follows:

  • Group A: DAMWON, FunPlus Phoenix, Rogue, TBD
  • Group B: Edward, 100 Thieves, T1, TBD
  • Group C: PSG Talon, Fnatic, Royal Never Give Up, TBD
  • Group D:MAD Lions, Gen.G, Liquid, TBD

The best two teams from each group will advance to the final Playoffs Stage, which will be played on October 22nd – 25th, October 30th – 31st, and November 6th. It will follow a single-elimination format, where all series will best-of-five.

This year League of Legends World Championship will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland. Initially RIOT Games wanted to organize the event in China; however, it was relocated due to international travel laminations. The prize pool is set at $2,225,000.
